Googlebar Lite 4.9.3

Nov 11, 2012

I was alerted yesterday to the fact that the newest version of Googlebar Lite had a few locale issues. I have corrected these, and a new version is now available. If you spot any more problems of this nature, let me know.

Hi Jonah, I use Googlebar Lite for years and find it great! Thank you for all your efforts! Recently I installed the add-on "HTTPS Everywhere" and now the search term buttons in the Googlebar disappear whenever I follow a link on a search results page. I saw that the very same symptom was fixed in 4.8.0/4.8.1. Since I use the latest 4.9.3 this bug is slightly different. If I deactivate "HTTPS Everywhere" and enable Safe Search in Googlebar setting then it works like expected. The bug only bites if "HTTPS Everywhere" is installed and activated, and even if I follow a link that leads to an unsecured http:// page. I use Firefox 16.0.2 with HTTPS Everywhere 3.0.4 on Ubuntu Linux 11.04 classic with locale de_CH.UTF8. I hope this helps to fix it. Please just ask me if you need more info or testing. With kind regards, +++ Oliver

Thanks for reporting this. I'll try to take a look at it and see if I can work out a solution.

Hi again! I found a workaround, which is less invasive than deactivating HTTPS Everywhere completely. It is enough to deactivate its rule named "Google Services"! This rule is activated by default and it does not look too buggy to me. Perhaps Googlebar Lite just wants to use exactly those Google services and thes rule interferes with that. So for me the issue is even less urgent now. Anyway, thanks for caring! +++ Oliver
