Minor Toolbar Tutorial Updates
Posted on April 5, 2008 at 9:47 pmI have made a few updates to Chapter 7 in the Firefox Toolbar Tutorial at this site. Several typos have been corrected, and I have posted a brand new version of my Googlebar Lite build script, which I recently rewrote. The new script now uses the standard Unix zip tool (instead of WinZip), it automatically updates the chrome manifest for me, and it has generally been simplified.
Extensions Coming for Firefox 3 Beta 5
Posted on March 25, 2008 at 1:27 pmI have finished preparing both CoLT and Googlebar Lite for Firefox 3. Since the official add-ons website is not accepting extensions with a maxVersion of 3.0.*, and in the interest of trying to reduce the number of releases I have to make, I’m going to wait and release these updates when Firefox 3 beta 5 is officially released. The official release shouldn’t be too much longer from now, seeing as the source tree has already been frozen in anticipation for a new beta build.
Stay tuned for further updates. I’m really excited about Firefox 3 … I hope you are too!
Minor Tweaks to Profile Tutorial
Posted on March 13, 2008 at 10:20 amYesterday, I made a few updates to the Firefox Profile Tutorial here at this website. It turns out that the -P command line option is case-sensitive (as it should be). Firefox 2 apparently doesn’t care about case, but the new Firefox 3 builds do.
All of the official documentation I read also mentions the -ProfileManager command line option. I’m not certain if Firefox 3 wants the camel-case, but I’ve updated the tutorial to reflect this information. Let me know if you see any other errors in the tutorial.

Miscellaneous Fixes
- When removing a file from the wallpaper list, the next item in the list is now automatically selected

- Changed the default button in the “Recycle File” confirmation dialog to “Yes”
Paper Plus Update
Posted on January 21, 2008 at 5:53 pmIn addition to the extension updates that I’m working on, a new version of Paper Plus is under development. This release will fix several annoyances, add a new feature or two, and generally improve the application. Thanks to all Paper Plus users who have suggested changes (and keep them coming)!
Upcoming Extension Updates
Posted on January 21, 2008 at 5:49 pmUpdates to both CoLT and Googlebar Lite are in the works. I hope to release these new versions in several weeks. The new release of CoLT will include a new feature. Googlebar Lite will feature a small bug fix and a new localization. Firefox 3.0 support will be added to both extensions.

Extension News
Posted on November 20, 2007 at 2:02 pmI am currently working on a new release of both Googlebar Lite and CoLT:
Googlebar Lite 4.6.4
This new release will fix a major problem that occurs when browsing JAR files in Firefox when Googlebar Lite is installed. A new Greek translation will also be added.
CoLT 2.4.0
Support for rich-text format hyperlinks is coming in the next release of CoLT. I am still awaiting a number of localizations for this new version, but as soon as they become available, I will release.
With any luck, I will also be able to add Firefox 3.0 support to both of these new releases.
Paper Plus 9.31
Posted on October 27, 2007 at 9:58 pmA new build of Paper Plus is now available. This release fixes a problem where the “Remove Dead Files” option wasn’t removing all of the dead files in the list.
